The deck sparkled under all the scrubbing. The night sky glowed with stars, and Dena was getting ready to jump ship. Greenly, the riding hound, was packed. Dena was mounting her when Danulf gripped her arm. “Where are you going?”
“The task is finished.” Dena stated plainly.
“Yes, I know that, but where are you going, didn’t you agree to help the Lich?” Danulf asked. “Your word is not good is it?”
“Why should I help that monster? My goal is finished. I don’t want to be around that thing, even if it is a distant relative.” Dena huffed, she pulled her arm away from him.
Danulf guessed at what was bothering Dena, “She spoke to you today didn’t she?”
Dena mounted Greenly, “What does it matter? I am not a warrior, I am a hunter. I have to go back to rebuild what was lost.”
The animal jumped on top of the barrels.
“There is nothing back there for you, stay.” Danulf stated plainly.
