Voting Info Via Facebook

February 8, 2010
amaycatbaker

Australia is thinking of putting information on Facebook, to inform voters. I read it here:

Referendums Could be Held on Facebook

Interesting way to inform people of what is going on, I see one tiny problem, what happens when facebook is not hip? It happens on the internet, one moment it is a hip site, the next it is a dead site.  Or moderately viewed.

Facebook could be lasting, like yahoo or google. Only time will tell.

People need food donate to your local food bank

February 5, 2010
amaycatbaker

There is so much to fix here in America, that where to start would be the main problem. Until the law makers find that beginning, nothing will be accomplished.  In the mean time, people are suffering, some have been unemployed for a full year.  Benefits are running low, and the ability to find something to keep them going is growing thin.

This is not just affecting individuals, it is affecting families.

American’s did a great thing helping the people in Haiti.  There needs some work here.  People give huge amounts of food and charity during the holidays.  I am certain the people that got help are grateful. But life continues after that generous holiday.

The food banks need donations.  They are on the main fighting lines of this economic down turn.  The food banks give help to those who need it.  They need sealed canned goods, undamaged packaging, and if you can’t spare that: a donation of money. Each main cities food bank have web-sites that can be found through google.

I did something this week, when this came to my attention.  I hope to do more, and get people to help. Thank you if you can.

Seoul to Deregulate

February 3, 2010
amaycatbaker

Good morning, headline today is from Korea, and it is not something I cared to read:

Seoul To Continue Deregulation

The people who caused the problems here in the USA are encouraging another government to Deregulate.  Those rules are there for a reason.

This is anarchy in a huge scale, and another government is going down the road to let business do what ever it damn pleases without RULES!

Unbelievable. But it is there.

Back to work

February 2, 2010

Reading news from around the world starts tomorrow.  I will keep trying to update this blog as regularly as I can.  Three babies and loads of outside distractions are fun.

Change is on my mind.  How do you get a large group to change? I think something has to be invested by the group, and held very personally to get change to make sense.  If the group is comfortable, and has all the Maslow’s needs met, that makes change difficult.  Add lack of good information the group will just stay the same, because why fix something that is apparently working out so well.

Reporters seem to be shouting at the wind sometimes, and maybe good information is coming out of the stories broadcast by the main stream media.  Good reporters tend to get fired if they dig too well, or too deep.

The internet is being looked at by the people in power to be regulated.  I am all for regulation, but not on speech.  The world wide web is a form of speech, it should be free.  People like me are out here, reading other blogs, and the main stream media.  People are coming to their own conclusions and starting to talk.  Kinda like talking in town square but to a larger population.

I watched Obama getting interviewed yesterday by youtube people.  I read his tweets from the red cross.  The president seems to get it.  He is the first president that is really embracing the opportunity to talk to regular folks.  Yea, reporters sure are regular folks too.

The American public is just at the beginning of figuring out there is a change needed.  Yes, that was a campaign platform but who really understood what that meant.  Some are starting to realize what it means, some aren’t.  If the large group doesn’t really suffer, that group will back lash and want the status quo.  And I am really sorry for saying this,

Thinking – questioning – leading

January 27, 2010
amaycatbaker

The hardest thing to change is oneself.  A person can observe others and give an opinion. That opinion is taken or left.  But to look at oneself and go, “I am apart of the problem too.”

That statement is a tough one.

Looking at the current political atmosphere, there are many opinions.  It takes a bravery to stand up and say, “I will no longer be apart of the problem, and I know the solution is a tough one, even for me.”

The bravery is not there currently.  There is a wanting for leadership, a void to not give into the needs of money, gosh that one is tough, especially when you want what is best for the family.

Asking these questions adds to more questions.  Ones yet to be asked and answered.

Inspiration and leadership is needed. There are students out here looking for a teacher, people are thirsty to know what they can do, one more silly point, a teacher always learns from the students. That give and take situation can create a better understanding, and create a world/future we all can live in.

Disney Update

January 10, 2010
amaycatbaker

I got an e-mail, at my personal e-mail address today, about a prior article.  I don’t respond to any e-mails sent to my personal e-mail that has anything to to with my scribbles.  I do update comments when I can. And I have been distracted by Huffington Post lately. We were at Disney Nov 28th through Dec 5th.

My Daughter got sick Monday 29th Nov (flu), husband Wednsday 2th(food Poisening), my other daughter Saturday 5th(food Poisening), when we got home my teen son 7thMonday, and myself got ill on thursday.  As I said in the previous article, I don’t think it was food poisening, even if the doctor from CentraCare Walk-in Clinic said it was, it wasn’t the flu because my husband on wednsday and my daughter on saturday did have the flu check up their nose.

I am going to list the locations we ate at that I remember. I was supposed to write them down for a survey, but because of the stress of the trip I did not.

The dates we stayed, Port Orleans Riverside.  We went to the off property clinic twice:  CentraCare Walk-in Clinic, Monday and Wensday.

Places we ate and when:

Sunday-Port Orleans Riverside

Monday- Port Orleans Riverside/ My daughter was sick

Tuesday- Port Orleans Riverside/Pecos Bill Magic Kingdom left after to stay at the hotel and my teen and I swam

Wednsday- Port Orleans Riverside

Thursday- Shades of Green Garden Grill Breakfast- Chinese Pavillion- Mcdonald’s near All Stars Resort

Friday- Shades of Green Garden Grill Breakfast – Port Orleans Riverside- Golden Coral

Saturday- Clear Water

We are a military family, and would have stayed at Shades of Green for the discount. We used military tickets, we are a family of six, Husband, teen son, 2 daughters, baby and myself.  We went to Clearwater, FL to visit great-grandparent of my children, but ended up in the emergency room with my daughter.  We really didn’t have a fun vacation, and probably will not be returning, unless they do the military tickets again, which were military member goes free, and family gets 99 dollar ticket up to four ticket.  We got the 40% off discount for the hotel room and were put at Port Orleans Riverside because of our large family.

As for the e-mail, I hope my information here helps you. I am sorry you had a poor vacation like we did, we were not there during your dates.  If you stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, you might have gotten sick there.  We did.

Happy New Year

January 4, 2010
amaycatbaker

This might read very personal, bare with me.

I have not made my resolution this year.  Reflection always gains me insight, again bare with me.

I started tomekeeper, last year to continue my writing drive.  I also really started commenting on Huffington Post, as amaycatbaker.  I started my first twitter, and facebook. As far as I know my facebook is gone, and my myspace should have been shut down and it doesn’t seem like it was, I have to look into that. I shut down facebook because of an e-mail thing. I’ll try to explain below.

I had to delete my long time e-mail just last month, I had it for eight years, but something happened that was slowing down my computer, and after the deletion, my computer started acting like new.

I told my only living parent to not contact me if he insists on bringing up the stupid possiblity that I am not his, if he thought it was true.  And you know what, no contact.  SO I guess I am now an orphan. I have been living family drama free for a few months, and I like it.

I have family, I still talk to. I know I owe christmas presents to the ones that do show me they care, that is my fault and I have no excuse for not doing it this year, accept after having three children in three years, it does affect the brain, because of lack of sleep.  Again that is no excuse. I was a bit self centered over the last couple of years… but they produced the cutest little girls and one precious little boy.

This site will keep going and growing as I have time.  I grab time from my children to have these moments where I feel free.

Something is bothering me.  I will work through it as I always have, on my own.

To the people who end up in my writing and blogs, I hope to not offend too much.  These are my opinions. Mine alone.

To one person, smile. You are a strong woman, and don’t need to hear it from me.  Keep moving forward everybody.  Off to read to the kids, hum… what internet story today.

Asteriod and Missles.

December 31, 2009
amaycatbaker

I thought is was interesting that NASA shot a missle at the moon.  They did discover water.  What was hidden was the larger picture, and here it is…

Russia May Send Space Craft to Knock Away Asteriod That Could Hit the Earth

Sometimes looking in the window that is the internet, I am searching for a larger picture.  Sometimes that is hidden until someone posts.

The Asteriod might hit the earth it might not.  The fact the scientists are out there thinking about trying to divert an asteriod makes me proud to be human.  The fact that we can come up with solutions to complex problems is tremendous. I hope they succeed.

I am going to focus more on science here in my own home.  I did that sorta for my oldest son, and he is very good at building things and math.  I am hoping he finds a job that suits that talent, he is thinking military.

My youngest children have not shown what talents they have, but a science back ground is a great start.  I know encouraging other parents to turn the education focus to a more science based curriculum, that might not happen.

What does this have to do with the asteriod?  It has made me think that the education of my children is of the utmost importance.  Thank you Russian and NASA scientists, with out your tech we would not be living in the world we have today, nor would I be typing on my own web-site.

Good news in Chile

December 18, 2009
amaycatbaker

According to the article below, people in Chile have lessened the house hold debt by 4%.  Read it here:

Household Debt In Chile Falls

If Chile can do this, we can here in the USA.

During the holiday season we are encouraged to spend and spend, personal savings is something that is ignored, and if you spend into debt all the better.

Reading the above article gives hope.  That 4% debt reduction can lead to savings, and savings leads to investing. I think that leads to economic growth.

Good job Chile!

Wii Fit- a fantastic gift choice

December 11, 2009
amaycatbaker

This product endorsement will do nothing for me.  I am doing this because it is a damn good tool for people struggling to keep track of fitness. Like me.

I have been struggling with my weight all my life.  I even became a vegetarian last year because of my child’s allergies, which an allergist found were not so bad.  I lost some weight and gained more energy.

This summer I fell off of the wagon and ate meat for a few months, I gained weight.  I decided meat is just not something for me, so I went back to what was working.

Now add the wii fit. I got it a month and a half ago, and I have lost 10 lbs.  This is recorded on my wii!  I love the graphing of the weight loss, the goals that I set can be seen, and I can personalize how many calories I want to burn.

I have a treadmill, I have a personal gym, I saw results as definition with those, but with the wii fit, I see a graph and weight gains or loss.  I know numbers should not matter, that inches matter.  I am a fat woman who still wears a size 18, but weighs over 250lbs!  Those LBS are what I want to loose not the dress sizes.  I know the dress size matters too, but I only need to loose 3 to get to my high school figure.

Buying the wii fit was a good investment.  I will hope to loose the 4 lbs goal by the 25th.  Wish me luck!
